50th Anniversary Session: Peggy & Gene

I’m not sure if I’ll get the opportunity to post this entire session and because I have people wanting to see more, I thought sharing the full sneak peek might be satisfying. 🙂

I shared one image from Peggy and Gene’s 50th anniversary session sneak peek on my JFP Facebook page yesterday and it received 106 likes, reached over 3800 people, and comments like “I’m tearing up” and “great gift idea” and “this is a portrait of true love.” I don’t normally get this kind of reaction from my images, so I think the words and the image (plus others) that I did post are worth sharing again in a blog post…

Peggy’s advice for making a 50-year marriage: “Don’t give up.”

Yesterday’s session was a first for me. Peggy and Gene celebrated 50 years of marriage in March and their daughter gifted them a portrait session to capture who they are as a couple now. We walked in the field below their house, picked up sticks in their front yard (need to make the land safe for mowing!), looked through their wedding album and pictures of their grandkids, and Peggy worked on a quilt (for her granddaughter). We did all the things they enjoy doing. And while I found myself a little nervous because this was such a new thing for me, I was immediately comforted by Peggy and Gene’s happiness in the simple things. Just the two of them living in the home they built together, continuing to enjoy each other and keeping family a priority.

It’s a blissful picture to paint, sticks and quilts and walks in the field included, and I think it’s some good motivation to keep Peggy’s advice in mind.

Scenes and thoughts from deep creek

Well hey now! I thought for sure it had been more than seven months since I blogged last! Wish I could do it more…and plan to as soon as the new JFP website comes out.

I’m not sure I’m starting anything consistent here, just sharing some random thoughts and scenes from Deep Creek on this random Wednesday…

Jessica is amazing and she made us feel so comfortable! Having her capture our wedding was like having my best friend with me for every moment! Jessica's photos are fun, whimsical, and sophisticated!

We are not a stoic couple and did not want posed (or trying-too-hard) photos! Jessica was able to capture our personalities and the elegance of the day! I can't stop looking at our photos!

"Jessica is amazing!"

The best decision I could have made for my wedding was hiring Jessica Fike as a photographer! I was in a wedding prior that she was a photographer for and seeing how organized and easy and strategic she was to work with is what convinced me! She makes you feel so comfortable and helps teach you how to pose and smile and look so natural! She keeps you on schedule throughout your day and captures so much emotion in her photos. She is worth every penny plus more!

" the best decision."
